Viongozi vijana wapanga msafara wa amani Gusii baada ya shambulio la Linda Mwananchi
SIKU chache tu baada ya mtu mmoja kuuawa wakati wa shambulio dhidi ya msafara wa Linda Mwananchi huko Keumbu, viongozi vijana kutoka eneo la Gusii wametangaza msafara wa amani ili kuhubiri umoja na kulaani vurugu za kisiasa. Msafara huo wa Gusii uliopewa jina "Omorembe," neno la Ekegusii linalomaanisha amani, utaanza Alhamisi, Julai 9, 2026, kuanzia saa tatu asubuhi huko Keroka. Msafara huo utapita Keumbu, eneo la machafuko mabaya ya Ijumaa, kabla ya kuelekea Mjini Kisii na kuishia soko la Daraja Mbili. Waandaaji wanasema harakati hiyo haina upendeleo wowote na inalenga kuwaleta pamoja viongozi wa makanisa, viongozi wa jamii, Baraza la Wazee kutoka Jamii ya Abagusii, wasanii, wasamaria wema na vikundi vyote vya kisiasa. Mabango yaliyotolewa na waandaaji na yaliyotiwa alama nyekundu, nyeusi na kijani kibichi yenye alama za mikono yenye damu, yana ujumbe mzito: "Acha umwagaji damu na vurugu." Haya yanajiri huku washukiwa saba waliokamatwa kuhusu shambulio hilo la Keumbu wakizuiliwa na mahakama ya Kisii Jumatatu. Hakimu Mkazi Mkuu Caroline Jeruto alitoa amri hiyo baada ya afisa aliyewakamata na mwendesha mashtaka kukosa kufika mahakamani na faili za kuwashtaki kwao. Mbunge wa Nyaribari Chache Zaheer Jhanda, pia bado hajatimiza wito wa kufika makao makuu ya Idara ya Uchunguzi wa Makosa ya Jinai (DCI) ya Kisii ili kuandikisha taarifa baada ya kuhusishwa na vurugu hizo. Shambulio dhidi ya msafara wa vuguvugu la Linda Mwananchi lilisababisha mtu mmoja kufariki na magari kadhaa kuharibiwa, likiwemo moja la Jaji Mkuu wa zamani David Maraga. "Lazima tuurudishe mji wa Keumbu sifa zake kama mahali pa amani, si vurugu. Hatuwezi kuruhusu siasa kuwageuza majirani kuwa maadui," alisema Gilbert Nyangaresi, kiongozi wa vijana kutoka Wadi ya Bobarcho, eneobunge la Nyaribari Chache. Ratiba ya msafara huo itakuwa na vituo vifupi katika kila mji kwa ajili ya hotuba za amani, sala zinazoongozwa na viongozi wa makanisa wa eneo hilo, na maonyesho ya wasanii wa Gusii. Huko Keroka, timu hiyo itawahutubia wakazi katika jukwaa kuu kabla ya kuondoka. Huko Keumbu, wanapanga kuweka shada la maua ili kumuenzi mtu aliyeuawa wiki iliyopita. Mji wa Kisii utaandaa mkutano mkubwa zaidi katika Mzunguko wa capital, huku Daraja Mbili ikiwa kituo cha mwisho. Shambulio la Keumbu limekosolewa kitaifa na kufufua hofu ya kuongezeka kwa kutovumiliana katika eneo hilo kabla ya Uchaguzi Mkuu wa 2027. Viongozi kutoka pande zote za kisiasa wametaka uchunguzi wa haraka kufanywa na wahusika kuchukuliwa hatua. Baraza la Wazee la Abagusii pia limewaonya vijana dhidi ya kutumiwa na wanasiasa kusababisha machafuko. Wafanyabiashara huko Keumbu wamekaribisha msafara huo. "Tangu Ijumaa, mauzo yamekuwa chini. Watu wanaogopa. Ikiwa msafara huu utasaidia kurejesha utulivu, tunauunga mkono," alisema Phylis Mokono, ambaye anaendesha hoteli karibu na stani ya magari ya Keumbu.
