MATAMSHI ya Naibu Rais Profesa Kithure Kindiki kuwa hawezi kutoka kwa serikali ni jambo zito sana. Kwanza ni sauti inayotoka kwa mwanajeshi mtiifu kwa Rais William Ruto. Alikuwa kimbilio na chaguo lake la kwanza baada ya kutimuliwa kwa aliyekuwa naibu wake Rigathi Gachagua. Gachagua mwenyewe amechafua anga ya Rais Ruto mlima Kenya sehemu iliyochangia pakubwa ushindi wake katika uchaguzi mkuu wa 2022. Ila sasa habari zimemfikia kuwa waziri Wycliffe Oparanya huenda ndiye atakayekuwa mgombea mwenza wa Ruto. Hesabu hii ya Rais ikiwa itatekelezwa inaweza kumpa majeraha makubwa kuliko angesalia na Kindiki. Ni wazi kuwa Gachagua amekimbia na idadi kubwa ya wapiga kura. Swali ni je, Oparanya ataweza kumletea Rais Ruto kura zaidi? Jibu la wazi ni kuwa huenda matokeo yakawa mabaya zaidi kutokana na msisimko wa seneta Edwin Sifuna. Oparanya anakabiliwa na upinzani mkubwa kwanza kutoka kwa gavana wake Farnandes Barasa ambaye anadhania kuwa hamtakii mema kwa kuungana na wapinzani wake katika kinyang'anyiro cha ugavana mwaka 2027. Sasa Rais Ruto atakuwa na kazi ya kuwapatanisha awali ndipo waanze kuzunguka naye nchini. Ilivyo ni kuwa Oparanya hana misuli ya kusukuma kampeni za kitaifa jinsi alivyo Kindiki. Ikiwa Kindiki na Ruto wataachana basi pacha waliovumiliana katika mateso watakuwa wametengana. Ikumbukwe Kindiki alikuwa naibu spika wa bunge la seneti na akaondolewa mamlakani na upande wa Rais Uhuru Kenyatta kwa sababu ya ushirika wake na Ruto. Wote wamekuwa na misiba tofauti ya kisiasa lakini kilio ni kimoja. Katika kampeni za mwaka 2022 Profesa Kindiki ndiye aliyekuwa wakala mkuu wa Ruto kule Bomas. Alikubali wadhifa huo licha ya kunyimwa nafasi kuwa mgombea mwenza wa Ruto licha ya wanachama kumdhania kuwa angekuwa chaguo bora. Hii inatoa sifa ya mtu mvumulivu ila wakati mwingine anajulikana kama 'fireman". Wapo wanaosema kuwa matokeo ya Ol Kalou yamemfanya Rais kumdhania Kindiki kuwa mtu asiyesukuma ajenda ya mlima kwa dhati ya moyo wake. Jambo lisilo na mjadala ni kuwa ikiwa Ruto atabadilisha mgombea mwenza kutoka kwa Kindiki basi hata asili mia 30 itakuwa vigumu kupata kutoka mlima Kenya. DCP itamega sehemu kubwa ya UDA Rais akose uwakilishi wa kitaifa. Kwa waziri Oparanya ngoma hiyo ni kubwa kumzidi. Ana kibarua kwanza cha kuzima wimbi la Sifuna na gavana Natembeya ambalo limewameza Spika Moses Wetangula na Mkuu wa mawaziri Musalia Mudavadi. Kwa ufupi ni heri Kindiki kuliko Oparanya. Mahakama yakataa ombi la mwanaharakati kuahirisha kura za 2027
MAHAKAMA Kuu jijini Nairobi imekataa ombi la kuahirisha Uchaguzi Mkuu wa 2027 hadi Katiba ya 2010 ifanyiwe marekebisho makubwa, ikiwemo kutathmini mihula ya viongozi na kuundwa kwa afisi ya Kiongozi wa Upinzani yenye mamlaka ya kutathmini utendakazi wa serikali. Jaji Patricia Nyaundi aliamua kuwa mabadiliko ya Katiba hayawezi kufanikishwa kupitia mahakama bali lazima yafuate taratibu zilizowekwa na Katiba. Alisema mahakama haikuwa na mamlaka ya kusikiliza kesi hiyo kwa sababu mlalamishi hakufuata njia halali za marekebisho ya Katiba. Kesi hiyo iliwasilishwa na Bernard Mwanzia dhidi ya Tume Huru ya Uchaguzi na Mipaka (IEBC), Mwanasheria Mkuu, Spika wa Bunge la Kitaifa na Spika wa Seneti. Bw Mwanzia alitaka maandalizi ya uchaguzi wa 2027 yasimamishwe akidai Katiba ya sasa ina mapungufu yanayodidimiza umoja wa kitaifa, utawala bora na uthabiti wa uchumi. Alidai kuwa masuala kama mpangilio wa uchaguzi, mihula ya viongozi kuhudumu, matumizi ya lugha za mama katika mabunge ya kaunti, uwakilishi wa viongozi waliochaguliwa, kuhifadhi utamaduni wa Kenya na haki ya maandamano yanahitaji kufanyiwa marekebisho kabla ya uchaguzi mwingine kufanyika. Iwapo ombi hilo lingefaulu, maandalizi yote ya uchaguzi mkuu yangesimamishwa hadi kukamilika kwa mchakato wa marekebisho ya Katiba. Hata hivyo, IEBC ilipinga kesi hiyo ikisema Katiba tayari imeweka utaratibu wa kuifanyia marekebisho kupitia Bunge au mpango wa kuwashirikisha wananchi. Jaji Nyaundi alikubaliana na hoja hiyo akisema mlalamishi alikimbilia mahakamani kabla ya kutumia njia zinazotambuliwa kikatiba. "Katiba imeweka njia ya wazi, ya kipekee na inayojitekeleza ya kuifanyia marekebisho, na utaratibu huo lazima uheshimiwe," akasema. Bw Mwanzia pia alikuwa akipendekeza kuanzishwa kwa afisi ya Kiongozi wa Upinzani iliyo na mamlaka ya kutathmini utendakazi wa serikali, kupitia upya mfumo wa ugatuzi na uwakilishi bungeni.
