Gavana asimulia kusutwa na Rais kwa wapigakura wachache Kaskazini licha uwekezaji mkubwa

GAVANA wa Garissa, Nathif Jama amefichua kuwa mkutano ulioitishwa na Rais William Ruto katika Ikulu mnamo Julai 13 haukulenga tu maendeleo ya Kaskazini Mashariki, bali pia ulijadili idadi ndogo ya watu wanaopata vitambulisho na kujiandikisha kama wapigakura. Bw Jama alisema Rais aliwataka viongozi wa Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit na Isiolo kueleza kwa nini wananchi wengi bado hawana vitambulisho licha ya serikali kufuta mfumo wa wanaoomba vitambulisho. "Rais alituambia bado hatuwahamasishi watu wetu kupata vitambulisho na kujiandikisha kupiga kura. Tulitoka katika mkutano huo tukiwa na aibu," alisema. Alisema makadirio ya IEBC yanaonyesha Garissa itakuwa na wapigakura 258,926 pekee mwaka 2027, idadi ambayo alisema haiendani na wakazi zaidi ya milioni moja wa kaunti hiyo. Gavana wa Wajir Ahmed Abdullahi pia alisema viongozi waliagizwa kuongeza idadi ya watu wanaopata vitambulisho na kupendekeza maafisa wa usajili waende moja kwa moja katika shule za upili kuwasajili wanafunzi waliotimiza umri wa kupata kitambulisho. Chanzo kilichohudhuria mkutano wa Ikulu kilisema Rais aliwapa viongozi hao miezi mitatu kuongeza idadi ya waliojiandikisha kupata vitambulisho na wapigakura.
