Mahakama Kuu Ijumaa ilipuuzilia mbali jaribio la SL kusimamisha kesi ya uhalifu, ikiacha mashtaka ya uhusiano, hela na mali kushughulikiwa katika kesi iliyowasilishw mbele ya korti za hakimu. Kulingana na Bi SL, uhusiano ulianza baada ya Bw BD kumfuata kupitia jamaa wa familia kuanzia 2019. Alimwelezea kama raia wa Uholanzi anayezuru Kenya mara moja kwa mwaka. Kuanzia mwishoni mwa 2020 hadi 2023 katikati, alisema BD alimtumia kupitia M-Pesa, aghalabu Sh100, Sh200 au Sh1,000 kwa kadi ya simu au chamcha kama "mpenzi wake mtarajiwa." Alisema Sh70,000 zilitumwa kwa mazishi ya baba yake BD huku fedha nyingine zikitumika kuweka paa nyumba yake Likoni. Alisema walikutana ana kwa ana kwa mara ya kwanza mwishoni mwa 2022. "Korti hii haiwezi kuchukua hatua kwa ushahidi ambapo upande mmoja unasema upo lakini umeamua kutowasilisha," alisema Jaji Ngaah Jairus. Jaji alikanusha hoja kuwa mzozo huo unahusu tu uhusiano uliotibuka au suala la mali. "Iwe pesa zilikuwa zawadi au zilipatikana kupitia ulaghai ndiyo aina ya suala halisi, ambalo ni sharti korti itoe uamuzi kulihusu baada ya kusikiza ushahidi utakaopigwa msasa kupitia kuhoji," alisema jaji.
