Wagonjwa wapumua sasa baada ya wauguzi kusitisha mgomo wa siku 44
MUUNGANO wa Kitaifa wa Wauguzi na Wakunga Kenya (KNUNM) jana ulisitisha mgomo wake wa kitaifa uliodumu kwa siku 41 baada ya kufikiana na Baraza la Magavana Nchini (CoG). Uamuzi huo ulitangazwa baada ya mkutano wa siku nzima wa faragha kati ya viongozi wa KNUNM na CoG. Katibu Mkuu wa KNUNM Seth Panyako alisema mgomo huo ulioanza Julai 29, 2026, umesitishwa mara moja. "Kwa mamlaka niliyopewa na Katiba ya Muungano wa Kitaifa wa Wauguzi Kenya na Katiba ya Kenya, natangaza kwamba mgomo ulioanza tarehe 29 Julai 2026 umesitishwa," akasema Bw Panyako. Aliwataka wauguzi kurejea kazini mara moja au ndani ya saa 24 ili kuhakikisha huduma za afya zinaendelea kutolewa katika hospitali. "Ninawasihi wanachama kurejea kazini mara moja na kwa vyovyote vile si zaidi ya saa 24 kuanzia sasa," akaongeza. Kusitishwa kwa mgomo huo kumaliza kusambaratika kwa huduma za afya katika hospitali za umma kote nchini kwa karibu wiki sita. Wauguzi walikuwa wakishinikiza kuboreshwa kwa malipo na marupurupu, hali iliyosababisha baadhi ya wagonjwa kukosa huduma muhimu. Mapema wiki hii, wauguzi walikuwa wameandamana hadi katika afisi za CoG na kuahidi kuendelea kuwa hapo kila siku hadi malalamishi yao yasikilizwe. Jumanne, CoG ilionyesha dalili za kusuluhisha mzozo huo baada ya kufichua kuwa ilikuwa imewasilisha ofa kwa wauguzi. Mwenyekiti wa CoG Ahmed Abdullahi alisema wauguzi wangepata nyongeza ya Sh8,000 katika marupurupu ya mazingira hatari ya kufanya kazi na Sh5,000 ya marupurupu ya sare, jumla ya Sh13,000. "Kupitia juhudi za kamati yetu ya afya, ninaweza kuripoti kwamba hatimaye tumefikia makubaliano ikiwa hawatabadilisha msimamo wao hadi wakati mkataba utakapotiwa saini. Tumewapa nyongeza ya marupurupu ya mazingira hatari ya kazi hadi Sh8,000 na pia tumewapa nyongeza ya Sh5,000 ya marupurupu ya sare," akasema Bw Abdullahi katika mkutano uliofanyika Ikulu. Suluhu hiyo pia imezuia mgomo ambao ulikuwa unatishia kuanzishwa na madaktari. Muungano wa Madaktari, Wafamasia na Madaktari wa Meno Kenya (KMPDU) ulikuwa umetoa ilani ya siku saba ukitaka mzozo wa wauguzi usuluhishwe, na kuonya kuwa madaktari wangeingia mgomoni iwapo suala hilo halingetatuliwa. KMPDU ilikuwa imesema kuvurugika kwa huduma katika hospitali za umma kwa muda mrefu kulikuwa kumeongeza mzigo wa kazi kwa madaktari na wahudumu wengine wa afya. Kusitishwa kwa mgomo huo sasa kunatarajiwa kurejesha huduma za afya kama kawaida, huku utekelezaji wa makubaliano yaliyofikiwa ukitarajiwa kuwa hatua muhimu ya kuzuia migogoro mingine kati ya wauguzi na serikali.
