Hatua ya kuwaunganisha wanasiasa hao wawili ambao wote waliwania ugavana 2022, inalenga kutoa ushindani mkali dhidi ya Gavana Fatuma Achani, ambaye anatarajiwa kutetea kiti hicho kupitia tikiti ya Chama cha UDA. Wazee wa jamii ya Wadigo, wakiongozwa na msemaji wao Bw Chirau Makwere, ambaye pia aliwania ugavana 2022, walisema waliamua kuunga mkono Prof Boga kuwania ugavana na Bw Mangale kuwa mgombea mwenza. Wazee hao sasa wamempa aliyekuwa Prof Boga makataa ya wiki mbili kutangaza wazi mgombea mwenza wake ili kuzima sintofahamu zilizoibuka hivi majuzi baada ya kubainika kuwa, huenda Bw Mangale akaamua kuwania ugavana. "Tumeamua kwamba Prof Boga atuambie naibu wake ni nani ndani ya wiki mbili zijazo. Pia tunataka Bw Lung'azi atangaze kwa kauli yake kwamba atakuwa naibu wa Prof Boga. Hatuna msimamo mwingine isipokuwa Prof Boga kuwa mgombea wa ugavana na Bw Lungazi kuwa naibu wake," alisema Bw Makwere. Akiongea kwenye mahojiano ya redio, Bw Makwere alisema iwapo Bw Mangale hatakuwa tayari kuwa mgombea mwenza wa Prof Boga, watamruhusu apendekeze majina ya watu watatu ambao jamii itachagua mmoja wao. "Tumekuwa tukisikia sauti kutoka sehemu mbalimbali kwamba Bw Lungazi anataka kutangaza azma ya kuwa gavana. Sisi tumekataa. Tunataka awe naibu gavana. Na tutamimina kura mpaka waone," alisema Bw Makwere. Kwenye mahojiano tofauti, Bw Mangale alisema yuko kwenye kinyang'anyiro cha ugavana wa Kwale wala si kama mgombea mwenza. Alieleza kuwa, yuko kwenye chama cha ODM ingawa aliwania wadhifa huo kupitia Chama cha Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) katika uchaguzi uliopita. Haya yanajiri wiki kadhaa baada ya Prof Boga na Bw Mangale kutangaza kuwa wameamua kuweka tofauti zao kando na kuungana katika harakati za kuwania kiti hicho kwa lengo la kumbandua Gavana Achani katika uchaguzi mkuu ujao. Bi Achani amepata uungwaji mkono kutoka kwa baadhi ya viongozi wa ODM, lakini baadhi ya wanachama wamesisitiza chama hicho kina mgombea wake wa ugavana, ambaye ni Prof Boga. Katika mikutano yake ya hadhara, Bi Achani hupuuza wapinzani wake akidai wanaendeleza siasa za ukabila, na badala yake kutaka ushindani wa kisiasa uwe kwa misingi ya uwezo wa viongozi kuleta mandeleo kwa manufaa ya wananchi. "Ukabila huleta mgawanyiko katika jamii, kutokuaminiana, na hudunisha umoja wa kitaifa na kuathiri maendeleo. Kama Wakenya, tunafaa kukataa siasa za ukabila na badala yake tukumbatie umoja, uwiano na uongozi unaolenga masuala muhimu kwa manufaa ya kila mmoja," alisema hivi majuzi. Prof Boga na Bw Lungazi waliwania ugavana wa Kwale katika uchaguzi mkuu wa 2022, ambapo waliibuka wa pili na wa tatu mtawalia.
