Vyama vya kisiasa nchini sasa vimefika 107 – Msajili
VYAMA vya kisiasa vinaendelea kuongezeka nchini huku viongozi wakijiandaa kwa Uchaguzi Mkuu wa Agosti 2027, hali inayoibua maswali kuhusu iwapo miungano hiyo inasukumwa na sera au maslahi ya kisiasa. Afisi ya Msajili wa Vyama vya Kisiasa (ORPP) imetoa vyeti kamili vya usajili kwa vyama vingine sita na kufikisha jumla ya vyama vilivyosajiliwa kikamilifu 107. Zaidi ya vyama 30 vingine vina usajili wa muda, ikilinganishwa na vyama 90 vilivyokuwepo kabla ya uchaguzi wa 2022. Wachanganuzi wanasema baadhi ya viongozi wanaanzisha au kupata umiliki wa vyama ili kudhibiti tiketi za uteuzi, kuimarisha nafasi zao katika mazungumzo ya miungano na kupata manufaa ya kifedha. Miongoni mwa vyama vipya ni Mwongozo Mpya Party (MMP), Imarisha Uchumi Party (IUP), United Super Alliance Party (USAP), Forward Kenya Party (FKP), People's Prosperity Party (PPP) na Freedom and Opportunity Party (FOP). Aliyekuwa Waziri wa Teknolojia ya Habari na Mawasiliano, Eliud Owalo, aliyeanzisha PPP, amesema chama hicho kitalenga urais na pia kusimamisha wagombeaji katika nyadhifa zote za uchaguzi. Msajili wa Vyama vya Kisiasa, John Cox Lorionokou, amevitaka vyama kuzingatia katiba zao na kuhakikisha vijana pamoja na watu wenye ulemavu wanapata nafasi sawa za kushiriki katika shughuli za kisiasa. Vyama vingine vilivyoibuka ni Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) kinachohusishwa na aliyekuwa Naibu Rais Rigathi Gachagua, People's Renaissance Movement cha Caleb Amisi na United Progressive Movement (UPM) kinachohusishwa na Boni Khalwale. Viongozi wengine waliamua kupata umiliki wa vyama vilivyokuwapo badala ya kuanzisha vipya. Seneta wa Nairobi Edwin Sifuna amejipatia The Equitable Party (TEP), huku Mbunge wa Embakasi Mashariki Babu Owino akijipatia Muungano Party na kukibadilisha jina kuwa Mwananchi Party (TMP). Mbunge wa Kiharu Ndindi Nyoro amepata People's Party of Kenya (PPK), huku Gavana wa Trans Nzoia George Natembeya akihusishwa na United Democratic Party. Umiliki wa chama huwapa viongozi mamlaka ya kisheria ya kusimamia uteuzi wa wagombeaji na kuamua tiketi zitakazotolewa. Vyama pia hukusanya ada za uteuzi, ambazo zinaweza kufikia Sh50,000 kwa kila wadhifa. Aidha, vyama vinaweza kupata fedha kutoka kwa Hazina ya Vyama vya Kisiasa kulingana na matokeo ya uchaguzi. Marekebisho ya Sheria ya Vyama vya Kisiasa ya 2022 yaliongeza vyama vinavyoweza kunufaika na mgao kutoka kwa hazina hiyo. Asilimia 70 ya fedha hizo hugawanywa kulingana na kura zilizopatikana, asilimia 15 kwa kuzingatia wawakilishi waliochaguliwa kutoka makundi maalumu, huku asilimia 10 ikitegemea idadi ya wawakilishi waliochaguliwa. Asilimia tano hutumiwa na ORPP kwa usimamizi. Vyama pia hupata nafasi za uteuzi katika Bunge la Kitaifa, Seneti na mabunge ya kaunti.

Mashujaa Dei yanogesha biashara Eldoret

Kuwasili kwa maafisa wa serikali, wajumbe wa kampuni na wageni wengine kumeongeza mahitaji ya malazi, chakula, usafiri na huduma nyingine, na kuwawezesha wafanyabiashara kuongeza mapato. Edward Ambwere, ambaye hung'arisha viatu kando ya barabara ya Eldoret-Iten, alisema idadi ya wateja imeongezeka ikilinganishwa na siku za kawaida. "Biashara ni nzuri sana kwa sasa. Kwa sababu ya wageni wengi wanaowasili jijini, tunapata wateja wengi zaidi kuliko kawaida," akasema jana. Agnes Chemwelo, muuzaji wa chakula karibu na Hoteli ya Silverline kwenye barabara ya Eldoret-Kapsabet, alisema sherehe hizo zimeongeza mauzo. "Tunanufaika pakubwa na sherehe hizi. Absalom Chavera, meneja wa hoteli moja jijini, alisema nafasi zilianza kujaa wiki iliyopita, hasa kutokana na wageni wanaohudhuria sherehe. Hoteli za Eka, Boma Inn, Sirikwa na Queens pia zimewapokea wageni huku Eka ikiwa imejaa tangu mwanzoni mwa Oktoba. Wenye teksi na biashara nyingine za usafiri wanatarajiwa kunufaika kutokana na wageni wanaosafiri kati ya hoteli, uwanja na maeneo mengine ya jiji huku usalama pia ukiwa umeimarishwa. Kamishina wa Mkoa wa Bonde la Ufa, Abdi Hassan, alisema maafisa wa usalama wametumwa katika jiji na viunga vyake kulinda wakazi na wageni kabla, wakati na baada ya sherehe. Kaunti ya Uasin Gishu pia inatumia hafla hiyo kutangaza vivutio vyake vya utalii, ikiwemo Bwawa la Kesses , mbunga ya Mtoto Sosiani, Koromosho Falls na Eldoret Arboretum.

Kaunti sasa kupokea Sh71.09 bilioni zaidi
SERIKALI za kaunti zinatarajiwa kupokea Sh71.09 bilioni zaidi katika mwaka wa kifedha wa 2026/2027, baada ya Rais William Ruto kutia saini sheria mpya inayolenga kuimarisha uwajibikaji katika matumizi ya fedha za umma. Rais alitia saini Mswada wa Fedha za Ziada kwa Serikali za Kaunti 2026 kuwa sheria katika Ikulu ndogo ya Eldoret, Kaunti ya Uasin Gishu, jana kabla ya maadhimisho ya Siku ya Mashujaa leo. Fedha hizo zimeongezeka kwa Sh425.6 milioni kutoka Sh70.67 bilioni zilizotengewa kaunti katika mwaka wa kifedha wa 2025/2026. Sheria hiyo mpya pia inamtaka Waziri wa Hazina ya Kitaifa kuchapisha ripoti kila baada ya miezi mitatu kuhusu fedha zilizohamishiwa kwa serikali za kaunti. Ripoti hizo zinapaswa kutolewa ndani ya siku 30 baada ya kumalizika kwa kila robo mwaka. Mswada huo ulidhaminiwa na Seneta Ali Roba, mwenyekiti wa Kamati ya Kudumu ya Seneti kuhusu Fedha na Bajeti. Ulichapishwa Machi 16, 2026, na kusomwa kwa mara ya kwanza katika Seneti Aprili 2. Seneti iliupitisha pamoja na marekebisho Juni 17, kabla ya Bunge la Kitaifa kuupitisha pia kwa marekebisho Agosti 4. Seneti ilikubaliana na marekebisho ya Bunge la Kitaifa Oktoba 6, na hivyo kupisha mchakato wa Rais kutia saini mswada huo. Kati ya fedha hizo, Sh56.38 bilioni ni mgao wenye masharti unaofadhiliwa kupitia mikopo na ruzuku kutoka kwa washirika wa maendeleo. Nazo Sh12.73 bilioni zitatokana na mgao wa mapato ya serikali ya kitaifa, huku Sh1.83 bilioni zikitokana na mirabaha ya madini inayostahili kaunti.
