MAAFISA wawili wa Mahakama ya Kangema, Kaunti ya Murang'a, walikamatwa na Tume ya Maadili na Kupambana na Ufisadi (EACC) kwa madai ya kuomba na kupokea hongo kutoka kwa mfanyabiashara aliyepatikana na hatia ili kumsaidia kupata hukumu nafuu. Wawili hao walikamatwa Jumanne mjini Kangema katika operesheni ya EACC wakidaiwa kupokea Sh150,000 kutoka kwa mlalamishi. Na huku uchunguzi ukiendelea katika ofisi za EACC Kanda ya Kati mjini Nyeri, Jaji Mkuu Martha Koome alitangaza kuwa hakimu anayehusika amesimamishwa kazi kwa muda. Bi Koome alisema madai hayo ni mazito na yakithibitishwa yatakuwa ukiukaji mkubwa wa sheria pamoja na maadili ya maafisa wa mahakama. 'Mahakama haiwezi kuvumilia ufisadi au mwenendo wowote unaodhoofisha imani ya wananchi katika utoaji wa haki,' alisema katika taarifa. Aliongeza kuwa Tume ya Huduma za Mahakama (JSC) imeanza taratibu za kinidhamu dhidi ya afisa huyo huku uchunguzi wa jinai ukiendelea. Jaji Mkuu alisisitiza kuwa Mahakama ina sera ya kutovumilia ufisadi na kwamba maafisa wa mahakama hawawezi kutoa haki huku wakijihusisha na uhalifu. Kwa mujibu wa EACC, uchunguzi ulianza baada ya mfanyabiashara mmoja wa Murang'a kuwasilisha malalamishi. Mfanyabiashara huyo alikuwa amepatikana na hatia mnamo Julai 2, 2026 katika kesi ya kupata fedha kwa njia ya udanganyifu na alitarajiwa kuhukumiwa Julai 22. Mkurugenzi wa EACC Kanda ya Kati Japheth Baithalu alisema afisa wa huduma ya uangalizi wa wafungwa alidaiwa kumfuata mfanyabiashara huyo akisema alikuwa ametumwa na hakimu. Inadaiwa alimtaka Sh170,000 akiahidi fedha hizo zingemwezesha kupata ripoti nzuri ya uangalizi na hivyo kuepuka kifungo cha jela. Baada ya kupokea taarifa hiyo, EACC iliweka mtego uliofanikisha kukamatwa kwa washukiwa hao katika mkahawa mmoja mjini Kangema walipokuwa wakidaiwa kupokea Sh150,000.
