Kalonzo naye kutua Nyanza kuwinda ngome ya ODM baada ya Ruto

KIONGOZI wa chama cha Wiper, Kalonzo Musyoka, wikendi hii anatarajiwa kufanya ziara ya kisiasa katika maeneo ya Nyanza na Magharibi mwa Kenya katika juhudi za kuimarisha azma yake ya kuwania urais mwaka 2027, huku Rais William Ruto akiendelea kuongeza ushawishi wake katika ngome ambazo kwa muda mrefu zilijulikana kuwa za upinzani. Bw Musyoka ataanza ziara hiyo kwa kuzuru Bumala na Nambale katika Kaunti ya Busia leo kabla ya kuelekea Bondo, Kaunti ya Siaya, Jumapili. Akiwa Bondo, atahudhuria ibada katika Kanisa Kuu la St Michael's All Angels Cathedral na baadaye kufanya mikutano ya kukutana na wananchi. Ziara hiyo inampeleka moja kwa moja katika maeneo ambayo kwa miaka mingi yalikuwa msingi mkuu wa siasa za marehemu Raila Odinga. Pia inafanyika siku chache baada ya Rais Ruto kukamilisha ziara ya siku tano katika eneo la Nyanza, ikiwa ni sehemu ya juhudi zake za kujijengea msingi mpya wa kisiasa katika maeneo ambayo hapo awali yalikuwa ngome za ODM na upinzani kwa jumla. Kwa wachanganuzi wa siasa, ziara ya Kalonzo ina umuhimu mkubwa katika maandalizi ya uchaguzi mkuu wa mwaka 2027. Kiongozi huyo wa Wiper analenga kujenga uhusiano wa moja kwa moja na wapigakura wa Nyanza na Magharibi ambao kwa muda mrefu walimuunga mkono Raila katika kila uchaguzi. Kalonzo alikuwa mshirika wa karibu wa Raila kwa zaidi ya muongo mmoja. Mwaka 2013 alikubali kuweka kando azma yake ya urais na kuwa mgombea mwenza wa Raila kupitia muungano wa Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD). Mwaka 2017 waligombea pamoja tena chini ya muungano wa National Super Alliance (NASA). Katika uchaguzi wa mwaka 2022, Kalonzo alibaki kuwa mmoja wa viongozi wakuu wa kampeni za Azimio la Umoja One Kenya licha ya Raila kumteua Martha Karua kuwa mgombea mwenza wake. Uhusiano huo wa muda mrefu ulimfanya Kalonzo kuwa sura inayofahamika sana katika kampeni za Nyanza. Hata hivyo, changamoto kubwa sasa ni jinsi ya kubadilisha urafiki huo wa kisiasa kuwa uungwaji mkono binafsi kutoka kwa wapigakura wa eneo hilo. Changamoto hiyo imekuwa kubwa zaidi kufuatia kifo cha Raila Odinga na mabadiliko ya kisiasa yaliyojitokeza baada yake. Baadhi ya washirika wa zamani wa Raila wameanza kushirikiana kwa karibu na serikali ya Kenya Kwanza huku wengine wakijaribu kuunda sura mpya ya upinzani. Kwa mujibu wa duru za kisiasa, Kalonzo anategemea ushirikiano wa Gavana wa Siaya James Orengo katika kuimarisha kampeni zake Nyanza. Orengo amebaki mmoja wa viongozi wenye ushawishi mkubwa katika eneo hilo licha ya kuhusishwa na vuguvugu la Linda Mwananchi linaloongozwa na Seneta wa Nairobi Edwin Sifuna. Ziara za Kalonzo katika Kaunti ya Busia nazo zina umuhimu wa kisiasa. Busia imekuwa sehemu ya maeneo ambayo kwa kawaida huunga mkono vyama vya upinzani. Hata hivyo, katika miezi ya hivi majuzi Rais Ruto ameongeza shughuli zake za kisiasa na maendeleo katika eneo hilo, akiwavutia baadhi ya viongozi wa eneo hilo kuunga mkono ajenda ya serikali. Ziara ya Rais katika kaunti za Kisumu, Siaya, Migori na Homa Bay ilijikita katika miradi ya maendeleo ikiwemo barabara, huduma za maji, masoko, afya na elimu. Wachanganuzi wanasema mkakati huo umemsaidia kujenga taswira ya kiongozi anayelenga maendeleo badala ya siasa za mgawanyiko. Hali hiyo imeweka shinikizo jipya kwa viongozi wa upinzani ambao sasa wanapaswa kushindana si tu na ushawishi wa kisiasa wa Rais Ruto bali pia na mvuto wa miradi ya maendeleo inayotekelezwa na serikali. Kwa upande mwingine, Kalonzo anaonekana kuwekeza zaidi katika siasa za mashinani na kujenga muungano mpya wa upinzani. Hatua hizi zinajiri baada ya muungano wa Azimio la Umoja kubadilishwa jina na kuitwa Ukombozi Alliance. Kalonzo amesema mabadiliko hayo ni sehemu ya mkakati wa kujiandaa mapema kwa uchaguzi wa mwaka 2027. Pia amekuwa akifanya mazungumzo na viongozi wengine wa upinzani akiwemo Justin Muturi, Eugene Wamalwa na Lenny Kivuti kuhusu mfumo bora wa kuunganisha upinzani. Hata hivyo, hesabu za kisiasa ndani ya upinzani zimeendelea kuwa tata kutokana na azma ya aliyekuwa Naibu Rais Rigathi Gachagua kuwania urais kupitia chama chake cha Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
