KANISA la Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), limekosoa vikali serikali, likionya kuhusu kupanda kwa gharama ya maisha, ongezeko la ushuru, visa vya kutoweka kwa watu, ukiukaji wa haki za kibinadamu, ghasia za kisiasa na ufisadi. Katika taarifa iliyotolewa baada ya kikao cha Kamati ya Kudumu ya Kanisa hilo kilichofanyika katika Kanisa la All Saints' Cathedral jijini Nairobi, Askofu Mkuu wa ACK, Jackson Ole Sapit, alisema Kenya inakabiliwa na mazingira ya kisiasa yanayozidi kuwa hatari kuelekea Uchaguzi Mkuu wa mwaka 2027. Kanisa hilo lilionya dhidi ya kurejea kwa siasa za ukabila, uchochezi, vitisho, kuhadaa wapigakura na vurugu zinazoweza kuhatarisha amani ya taifa. "Kuongezeka kwa uhuni wa kisiasa, matamshi ya uchochezi, mgawanyiko wa kikabila na kuvurugwa kwa shughuli za kisiasa kunapaswa kuwatia wasiwasi Wakenya wote wenye nia njema," alisema Askofu Ole Sapit. Alisema jambo linalotia hofu zaidi ni matumizi ya vijana wasio na ajira kama zana za mizozo ya kisiasa. "Maisha ya vijana yanatolewa kafara kwa ajili ya tamaa za kisiasa. Tunasema wazi kuwa hali hiyo ni mbaya na haikubaliki. Tunaomboleza wale waliopoteza maisha katika makabiliano ya kisiasa. Hakuna cheo kinachostahili damu ya Mkenya kumwagika," alisema. ACK iliwataka viongozi wa kisiasa kupunguza joto la kisiasa na kuepuka kauli za uchochezi, huku ikihimiza idara za usalama kutekeleza sheria bila upendeleo. Kanisa hilo pia liliitaka Tume Huru ya Uchaguzi na Mipaka (IEBC) kuanza maandalizi ya mapema ya uchaguzi huru, wa haki, unaoaminika na unaoweza kuthibitishwa. "Uchaguzi wa amani haujengwi siku ya kupiga kura. Hujengwa kupitia haki, kuaminiana na maandalizi ya muda mrefu kabla ya uchaguzi kufanyika," alisema. Kuhusu ufisadi, ACK ilieleza kuwa rushwa na matumizi mabaya ya fedha za umma ndiyo kidonda kikubwa zaidi kinacholikabili taifa. Kanisa linataka mashirika ya kupambana na ufisadi, vyombo vya uchunguzi na Idara ya Mahakama kuchukua hatua kali dhidi ya wahusika bila kujali hadhi zao. "Wakenya wamechoshwa na uchunguzi usiozaa matunda na kashfa zisizo na matokeo. Haki haipaswi kuzingatia mamlaka, utajiri au ushawishi wa mtu," alisema Askofu Ole Sapit. Kanisa pia lilielezea wasiwasi wake kuhusu hali ya huduma za afya nchini, likitaja mgomo wa muda mrefu wa wauguzi na changamoto nyingine zinazokumba sekta hiyo. "Huduma za afya si anasa ya matajiri. Serikali za kitaifa na kaunti zinapaswa kushirikiana kwa haraka na wahudumu wa afya kutatua migogoro iliyopo," alisema. Aidha, ACK ilipinga baadhi ya mapendekezo katika Mswada wa Elimu ya Msingi, ikisema masuala yanayohusu mamilioni ya watoto hayawezi kuamuliwa bila mashauriano ya kutosha na wadau mbalimbali. Kanisa hilo lilionya kuwa Wakenya wengi wanateseka kutokana na ukosefu wa ajira, kupanda kwa gharama ya maisha, kufungwa kwa biashara na mzigo mkubwa wa ushuru. "Ushuru ni muhimu kwa maendeleo ya taifa, lakini ushuru unaowaumiza wananchi huku rasilimali za umma zikifujwa unakuwa chombo cha ukosefu wa haki," ilisema taarifa hiyo. ACK ilihitimisha kwa kusema kuwa Kenya ipo katika kipindi muhimu cha kihistoria na kwamba changamoto zinazolikabili taifa si za kisiasa na kiuchumi pekee bali pia za kimaadili na kiroho. Kanisa liliwataka viongozi na wananchi kukumbatia uwajibikaji, uadilifu na toba ili kunusuru taifa dhidi ya migawanyiko na migogoro inayoweza kujitokeza kabla ya uchaguzi wa mwaka 2027.
