RAIS ni mtumishi wa wananchi na anapaswa kuwajibishwa kuhusu maamuzi ya serikali yake. Hata hivyo, kukosoa uongozi hakupaswi kugeuzwa kuwa mashindano ya kutafuta makofi kutoka kwa wananchi. Ni jambo la kawaida kwa wanasiasa kukosoa serikali ili kujijengea umaarufu. Lakini ukosoaji usio na hoja unaweza kupotosha umma na kuleta mgawanyiko. Tunahitaji viongozi wanaoweza kusema ukweli hata kama ukweli huo hauwafurahishi mashabiki wao. Wananchi na viongozi wana haki ya kumuuliza rais maswali magumu. Badala yake, yanaweza kugawanya wananchi na kuwafanya viongozi kushindwa kujadili masuala muhimu kwa utulivu. Viongozi wa upinzani wanapaswa kukumbuka kwamba wananchi wanawatazama. Wanapozungumza kwa hasira na kutumia lugha chafu, vijana na watoto wanaojifunza kutoka kwao wanaweza kuona kwamba tofauti za kisiasa zinahalalisha ukosefu wa heshima. Vivyo hivyo, wafuasi wa serikali hawapaswi kumtetea Rais kwa kila jambo hata pale ambapo kuna makosa yanayohitaji kurekebishwa. Uzalendo si kuficha makosa ya serikali. Uzalendo ni kuonyesha kasoro na kupendekeza njia bora za kuzitatua. Tunapaswa kujenga utamaduni wa kisiasa ambapo hoja inajibiwa kwa hoja, si kwa matusi. Rais akifanya vizuri, tumpongeze. Akikosea, tumkosoe kwa heshima na ushahidi. Lengo la ukosoaji linapaswa kuwa kuboresha uongozi na maisha ya wananchi, si kumdhalilisha Rais au kufurahisha umma. Kwa hivyo, tusimkosoe Rais kwa kutafuta makofi. Tumkosoe kwa ukweli, uwajibikaji na nia ya kuijenga Kenya.
